A Comida do Brasil!

The food in Brasil is very different from the food here. Lunch is the biggest meal of the day where everyone comes home from work for a few hours to eat. People rarely eat dinner and if they do it's just a snack. Since coming home from our trip, Rebekah has had a hard time switching back to the US schedule. She has been eating a bigger meal for lunch and just a snack for dinner. Here are some pictures of things she was introduced to in Brasil:

This is acai, the love of my life...besides Rebekah. Acai is a fruit that they make into a smoothie that you eat, if that makes sense. But there's granola in it and it's soooo good. Rebekah loved it as well!

We loved the fresh fruit everyday. We had pineapple (pictured above), mango, papaya, oranges, tangerines, guava, caju, acerola (Rebekah's favorite juice), maracuja, and several different kinds of bananas.

This is a pizza restaurant. It's a rodizio which means you just sit down and they bring a lot of different kinds of pizzas around and you take whatever. We especially liked the chocolate pizzas.

Barbeque is a big thing in Brasil and people barbeque meat and sell it. Meat covered in farofa with garlic sauce is so good.

After church on one Sunday, this family invited Rebekah and I to have lunch with them. A typical Brazilian lunch is rice, beans, meat, and some sort of vegetable.

This is the Garoto chocolate factory in Vila Velha.

Us after a tour in the factory. There were two stops where we could eat as much chocolate as we could. We both felt sick after.

Wow...I'd like to go to Brazil just for the food! Chocolate Pizza??! There are so many fruits I've never heard of and the acai sounds really tasty.
When you wrote about the chocolate factory and mentioned the part where you guys were allowed to eat as much chocolate as you wanted, I got a clear image of you guys running around in a place much like the one in Charlie and the Chocolate factory.
